With more than 8 million square feet of retail space, Pineville is best known as a shopping hub. Pineville originally grew with the introduction of I-485, and much of the once undeveloped land is now Carolina Place Mall, big box stores and shopping strip centers. However, the town of Pineville has maintained its small town southern charm. With roughly 7,500 residents, Pineville boasts quaint neighborhoods, Jack Hughes Park with its state-of-the-art ball field facilities, walking trails, shelters and playground equipment. The brick storefronts that line the historic downtown are filled with antique shops, and summer Friday nights are filled with movies and live concerts at Lake Park.
